SELECTED WORK 〰️

Client: Shell Helmisimpukka
Produced by: Grillifilms
Project: Driver’s Duel
Director: Finn Anderson
My Role: Editor

A 45sec TV-spot for Shells Helmisimpukka branded gas-station cafés, with a focus on their hot-dog and fast food items. This was a very fun spot to edit due to the over-the-top tone and style, which lended itself well to creative editing choices.

This project also involved creating 6sec, 10sec, 20sec and 30sec versions, including for all social media formats.

Client: OnePlus
Produced by: Kameron
Project: Color Blind Photographer
Director: Johannes Östergård
My Role: Editor

A really interesting and fun project about Kilian Schönberger, a German photographer who is alos color blind. The video was branded content for OnePlus and was released in time for the Holi celebrations in India in 2023.

Client: Maggi
Agency: Publicis Groupe
Produced by: Prodigious
Project: It’s In Our Hands
Director: Johannes Östergård
My Role: Editor

Television commercial for Maggi food, for the German market. The concept was to highlight the human side of Maggi, and their food, through focusing on the hands that make our food.

This edit is a directors cut.

A project that came to me at the last minute and required a very quick turnaround time (just one week) from start to finish. The film was a hype video for a OnePlus launch event, where they introduced three new products to their lineup, and as such had a high importance for the client.

The video was made using stock footage due to the short timeframe and also features my first professional voice-over work, as per the clients request after hearing my voice in a rough demo edit of the film.

Design of all motion graphics elements for the series Ångest Non Stop, a half hour documentary series about mental health and anxiety. Above you can see the title sequence for the series.

My aim here was to reflect an anxious mind visually, which I did by using a jumble of words and letters framed within the rigidity of an imagined box surrounded by abstract and jittery images to represent a mind in chaos.

MY SKILLS

〰️

MY SKILLS 〰️

EDITING

Starting in 2008 as a news editor at Yle, my work as an editor has spanned my entire career, through documentaries, tv-series, and commercials; and has been the back-bone of my professional life.

DIRECTING

While editing might be the back-bone of my career, directing is my true passion and the back-bone of my editing. I majored in directing at film school and have directed both tv-series and commercials throughout my career.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

In 6th grade (way back in 1999) my brother taught me how to use Adobe Illustrator 7.0. That was the start of a lifelong love of typography, negative space, and layout, which has grown into motion graphics and art directing projects as a freelancer.

WEB DESIGN

Borne out of the necessity of having to design my first portfolio website; designing clean, beautiful and well-working websites has become a frequent source of joy (and income) for me.

ORGANISATION

I have a passion for boxes and notebooks, and most of my colleagues would agree that my desk is the cleanest they’ve ever seen. I’ve also tried literally over 20 different project management apps in the hunt for the perfect one (Notion). So if you need someone to create a folder structure for your servers, you now know who to call.

I worked at Viacom Nordics for various stretches of time (the longest being half a year) between 2020-2021 as a Trailer Producer — editing trailers for many of their series, including Friends, South Park, American Rust and many more.

Above you can see a Generic trailer I made for Friends. The titles are in Danish, but read: Men are: Eager; Confused; Giggly; Mature; And Quickwitted.

Client: ViacomCBS
Work: Trailers for Paramount Network
My Role: Trailer Producer

Client: Klarna
Agency: Make Your Mark
Project: Deep Dive.
My Roles: Editor & Motion graphics

Editing and creation of a motion graphics style and guidelines for a series of informational films for the Klarna Knowledge Hub. The graphics had to be simple enough so that they could be created quickly for any future films, which meant I had to create a simplified language in both design and animation that could be replicated by anyone for future instalments in the series.

Client: Riksbyggen
Agency: Futurniture
Produced By: Slutet är Nära
Project: Inflyttningsklart
My Roles: Director & Editor

Cinema and Social Media commercial for a campaign promoting the ready-to-move-into apartments at Riksbyggen. The concept was already largely set when I stepped in as director, but it was still very different from the final film. Mainly due to my insistence that we create something more fresh and unique than the concept that was presented to me — I managed to convince the agency and client that the film would be most effective as a one-take, since the whole campaign hinged on the promise that Riksbyggen have apartments that are ready to move into at a moments notice.

Client: Weihenstephan
Agency: Grabarz & Partner
Produced by: Wunderfilm GmbH
Project: Milch
Director: Johannes Östergård
My Role: Editor

Television commercial for Weihenstephan’s milk, for the German market. The concept was based on showcasing the unique qualities that make Weihenstephan’s milk fresher than competing brands, thus the focus in the editing was to create an atmosphere and tempo that made the visuals feel realistic and grounded, while also associating the brand with the idyllic setting of rural Germany.

Client: Hultafors Group
Producer: Britta Andréason
Project: Creative Cuts
My Roles: Director & Editor

6 episode web-series for the clothing brand Dunderdon, a workwear and fashion brand specializing in tough and well-crafted clothing, whose image is based on craftsmanship and quality. They wanted a series that celebrated craftsmen in different fields, having short discussions about their work with another craftsman — the barber Big T.

Working with a tiny two-man team, we created these films on an extremely tight budget, in one day of shooting.

The first film is a case film for Make Your Marks social media campaign for the Swedish payment solution company Klarna. The other, a film used at workshop with Fastighetsägarna, about the future of marketing and the nature of the current Content landscape.

Title sequence for a new web-series showcasing the different buildings and facilities that AMFF owns and rents out, through focusing on one creative person per episode who just happens to be renting a space at one of their buildings. The aim is to create short mini-docs in the form of personal portraits of chefs, architects, baristas, and more.

Client: AMFF
Agency: Make Your Mark
Project: Här Vill Jag Vara
My Role: Motion Graphics

Series of Social Media recipe teaser films, meant to whet the viewers appetite and draw an audience to the clients website. The challenge in this project was the extremely limited budget. So the aim was to create visually appealing videos that would showcase the amazing produce from Säsongens Bästa. Our solution was to do everything ourselves (me and the brilliant Art Director Katy Kimbell), which meant creating the recipes, styling, photographing, and editing the videos from start to finish. The upside was full creative control and the finished videos we created turned out really great in spite of (or due to?) the limitations.

Investigative documentary series about the future of a given subject — the future (in general) in Season 1; and education in Season 2. Since the focus of the episodes was the future, the footage captured consisted to a large degree of expert interviews, which created a challenge for me as the editor to keep the viewer engaged throughout the series. This was solved through creative motion graphics and use of stock footage (for more abstract visualisations of future scenarios), but also by focusing on tempo and creating the feeling of forward motion through a lot of work with sequencing and transitions from one subject to the next.

Client: YLE
Produced By: Five Corners Production
Project: Fem Fenomen (2 seasons)
Episodes: 6 x 30min / season
My Roles: Editor & Motion Graphics

Tv-series about local Finnish ingredients & cuisine with Michelin-starred chef Filip Langhoff. This was a passion project of mine, and will always hold a special place in my heart since it was my first professional directing job. The aim was to give the series a down-to-earth feel and remove the trappings of fine-dining and status from really good food (especially since the chef/host was a Michelin-starred restauranteur), and instead bring the food back to it’s roots, quite literally, with a focus on growing, hunting, and cultivating the ingredients. We also decided to do a lot of the cooking in the show on location, often outdoors, where the produce was naturally found to further the connection between our food and where it comes from.

My introduction video, from way back in 2015, that I sent along with any job applications. It got me into a quite a few meetings and even though it’s quite goofy and hasn’t aged all that well, it still holds a special place in my heart.
